  • An introduction to the Improv Match

1454 rue Atateken 1454 rue Atateken, Montreal, Canada

Designed and developed by the National Improv League (LNI) in 1977, the improv match has been at the heart of bringing improv matches to life—sparking the rise of spontaneous theatre across Quebec. Today, it remains the most popular format among the countless leagues in the province, played as much in elementary school as in bars, constantly evolving with every new performer and every audience.

Join us for a hands-on workshop that dives into the unique challenges and dynamics of the improv match. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at how it works—and a deeper appreciation for the artistry that drives it. To top it off, the workshop will be followed by a live match, showcasing some great talents from the English and French scenes of Montreal!

  • Acting for Improv – Stanislavski & Scene Dyna

1454 rue Atateken 1454 rue Atateken, Montreal, Canada

Acting for Improvisers - Stanislavski & Scene Dynamics

“On the stage do not run for the sake of running, or suffer for the sake of suffering. Don’t act “in general”, for the sake of action; always act with a purpose.”
― Konstantin Stanislavski, An Actor Prepares

In this class, we'll play with objectives, super-objectives, and tactics. We'll learn healthy conflict dynamics, to recognize when a beat ends, and how to move forward with purpose. And we'll discover the benefits of both stumbling in with nothing and starting with a clear sense of direction.
