    Just Sing! is an opportunity to focus on improvised singing and group music making while strengthening vocal techniques along the way. This is the vibe of a vocal and piano jam without improv comedy scenes or musical theatre context.

    Enjoy making music with other humans in a no-pressure environment, while enhancing singing skills. These short sessions are great for any musical improviser looking to supplement their work, or for anyone looking for something fun and free stylin’ to do.

    Our workshop is a lively, engaging experience that leads directly into our show. Every Sunday, you can join us to practice scenes and learn about story-based improv, guided by a variety of great teachers. Sunday 4-6, always free.

  • Sunday Night Improv

    Our show is a natural extension of the workshop. A regular rotation of some of Montreal’s most talented improvisers always perform, including Sandi Armstrong, Alain Mercieca, Heidi Lynne Weeks, Maité Sinave, Mariana Vial, Adalia Pemberton, Solly Krygier-Paine, Kristina Guevarra, Mason Persaud, Shanthony Exum, Nicky Fournier and Jeremy Lewis . On top of having seasoned improvisers, we also have the new birds that walk in for the first time and steal the show. You could just literally show up and get thrown in the fire of a live show with no script! It has led to many amazing walk-in, home run hitters and creates an awesome “anything can happen” spirit, which is the backbone to improv.

    Always entertaining, Sunday Night Improv promises a good time for audiences who are welcome to contribute to the show through their suggestions and voting.

    The M BAR welcomes you to its wonderful space every WEDNESDAY NIGHT from 6pm to 7:30pm, for a fun, engaging, and interactive introduction to the skills of improvised comedy. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or just curious about improv, our workshops offer a no-commitment opportunity to explore and enjoy the art of improvisation.Come meet new people, learn new skills, and share an evening of laughs with us in a relaxed, and supportive environment. Only $5 per session – see you there!

  • The Weekly

    THURSDAYS / 6:30PM / 90 MINS + FREE ENTRY TO THE EVERY THURSDAY IMPROV SHOW

    Swing by for an hour and a half drop-in improv workshop for adults! These exciting drop-in classes are open to improvisers of all levels, whether you're just starting out or you want to hone your skills. Practice makes perfect and this weekly workshop will get your head back in the game, introduce new concepts and give you the workout you need to keep moving forward in improv!

    ALL LEVELS WELCOME / BEGINNERS TO EXPERIENCED / AGE 18+
    Workshops will be taught by experienced improvisers/teachers, and will be held in Studio B. These drop-ins are instructed in English and tend to fill up fast. Registration is highly recommended to reserve your spot, and it's best to do so on Monday or Tuesday.

  • Gravitas: A Narrative Improv Show

    In Gravitas: A Narrative Improv Show, performers will improvise an Oscar-bait movie on stage, with all the overwrought emotion and melodramatic acting you’d expect. Will it be a bombastic historical drama? A musical biopic? A too-cool-for-school arthouse darling? You’ll help our performers decide, and they’ll make up some hilarious improv comedy on the spot for your viewing pleasure.

    All are welcome to play for the day and explore the art of musical improv! These fun-filled sessions are for both beginner and experienced musical improvisers, where you will learn and practice short form musical ditties and scenes, appropriate for folks of all levels of experience. If you’re slightly intrigued or already addicted to Musical Improv, you don’t want to miss out on these one-off workshops! Some One-Hit Wonder classes end with a show for the public, where elected participants from the workshop will be invited to participate. Come jam out and see what the fuss is about!

    It's a Musical Improv Comedy night! Get ready for a night of quick wit and spontaneous songs! The first act will be an extension of the afternoon workshop, with a combination of Musical Improv enthusiasts and newbies. Who knows? It could be you! In the first act, we’ll riff on your suggestions with quick and clever short-form games. Then, settle in for the encore: A fully improvised musical, composed and performed on the spot. No rehearsals, never to be seen again.
